Preparing for the lifestyle as a Couple
The lifestyle doesn’t fix relationships—it magnifies them.
What You'll Learn
Our approach encourages reflection as much as action. You’ll walk away not only with new techniques, but with a deeper understanding of how and why they work. The goal is to leave you with ideas and skills that feel clear, useful, and genuinely meaningful in your life.
The Before-You-Go Checklist
Most couples don’t struggle because they want different things—they struggle because they haven’t fully talked about them yet.
The lifestyle doesn’t create communication issues. It reveals them.
Before the profiles, parties, clubs, hotel takeovers, dates, flirting, or fantasies become real, take some time to talk about what each of you actually wants, what makes you nervous, and what you need from one another to feel secure.
This isn’t a test, and there are no “right” answers.
You also don’t have to agree on everything today.
The point is to know where each other stands before you’re standing in the middle of a situation trying to figure it out.
Communication. PERIOD.
Yes, No, Maybe Check List
Understanding each others Boundaries, Desires and Expectations
Light some candles, pop open a bottle of wine and time to explore those fantasies! Download and print two of this downloadable guide created and curated by Emily Morse, Sex with Emily.
Fill one out individually and then take one of the filled out papers and copy the others onto it so you can see where your fantasies overlap, what’s off limits and what you’re both open to exploring.
Before it gets real
emotional check-in for couples exploring the lifestyle
You can talk about boundaries, make the lists, and agree on the rules—and still be surprised by how something actually feels. Maybe your partner gets more attention than you do. Maybe watching them flirt hits differently than you expected. Or maybe something you were sure would bother you doesn’t bother you at all.
Emotional readiness isn’t about eliminating jealousy, insecurity, or uncomfortable feelings before exploring the lifestyle. It’s about understanding what might come up, what you may need from each other, and how to stay connected when the experience becomes real.
